From the morning when the spring bird sings,
From the garden full of spring scent,
From the gust of wind which kisses my chin and flees
I ask if my spring has arrived
Elkun is thinking of the distant past
Desiring every long awaited spring
Wishing for the early return of dark winter,

The shadow of the full moon over Ayvalik1
Is drifting on the Marmara Sea tonight.
It is dancing with the lively fish,
Singing praises of love!
On the opposite shore
I am subject to solitude.
With yesterday’s thoughts and feelings
Only adding to my sorrow and confusion.

Falling all day.
I am on the train-
Feeling my soul-
Seeing my world.
This might be another year-
Taken away from me again-
Without telling a word.
But I am the traveller-
The newest gypsy-
Wandering around the world
Finding my way home
Whether it’s snow or rain.
